The Department of Endocrinology was established in February, 1986, under Dr P. Shyam Sundar. Two posts of Assistant professor and a 17-bedded capacity were sanctioned. At the Department, the Out Patient service caters to more than 1000 cases on a weekly basis. 'Diabetes Clinic' operates 3 times a week and imparts patient education, measures of self-care, free blood sugar monitoring, oral medications and dietary advice.

RESEARCH ACTIVITY: At the Department of Endocrinology, active research is being carried out in conditions of diabetes, thyroid disorders etc.
